a bit of this and a bit of that

So what is the next step in my journey, what do you actually do? 

Books, books and more books - that is my advice to those just starting out.  Go to the local library or get out your kindle and work out what you are drawn to.  At the moment, I am studying voodoo - yes voodoo, hoodoo, you do!  Visions of labyrinth flowing back into my mind - great movie.  But I digress!

One of the things that got me overwhelmed was that I had no altar, no witch kit and I had no idea where to start or what to buy first.  Not to mention, do I really need to get a second mortgage to buy all the stuff that I need?  The first thing that I did was to build my altar.  I started out with a small altar that was made up from a bamboo tray - managed to score some black velvet scraps which I made into my altar cloth and then started to find things around the traps that would suit my elements.  Yes I did manifest this to the universe to find these items to suit my altar - I found a crow's feather from outside my house (thanked the crow for leaving it for me), a small dish that I found in an op shop that can be used for an offering dish.  I found a bell in a cute little witchy shop, and I had a beautiful crystal quartz already in my collection and as for fire -  I had a small tea light holder.  Over time, I started to find more things, goblets, little statues, athames,  even home made like a wand to add to the altar.  For each sabbath, I would change it to suit - either by adding fresh herbs or crystals or something of significance relating to that sabbath (even just a goddess oracle card for the respective gods and goddess).  Make sure that you have fresh flowers on the altar (or in some cases if I couldn't get the right ones - I would make fabric flowers with the respective colours).  Even little charms that I am drawn to and reminds me of happy times in my life to bring in that joy and connection.

Remember everyone's altar is going to be different and may be created depending on what you are wanting to draw in or manifest or which god/goddess that you are going to work with.
